Software demo of unsupervised learning
Slezák, Milan ; Sáblík, Václav (referee) ; Honzík, Petr (advisor)
The bachelor's thesis introduces the use of unsupervised learning and presents possibilities of cluster analysis. Software demo of unsupervised learning is a part of this thesis. This program was made as a teaching aid. It consists several input databases with different data distributions on the basis of which it is possible to explain very easily elementary principles of cluster analysis and differences between hierarchical clustering and partitional clustering.
Interactive clustering approaches in single-cell cytometry
Urban, Nicole Aemilia ; Šmelko, Adam (advisor) ; Stuchlý, Jan (referee)
Flow cytometry allows inexpensive monitoring of large and diverse cell populations using fluorescent markers, providing immense applications in studying biological properties of blood and tissues as well as diagnostics in the clinical setting. Recent methodological advances highlight automatic clustering as a tool of choice for data analysis, and many clustering algo- rithms were developed for various use cases. However, the applicability of such algorithms in biology and medicine remains challenging unless the tools expose user-friendly, interactive interfaces that are accessible to domain ex- perts. The goal of the thesis is to review the available methods that allow such interaction and supervision of the clustering process by the user, specif- ically focusing on interfaces desirable in clinical setting that does not require the user to interact with programming environments. As the main practi- cal result, the thesis should design a new tool that builds upon previously developed methodology (iDendro, gMHCA), allowing the application of the researched methodology on real datasets. By using proper data visualization techniques, the end user should be able to interact with the dataset in a way that is both intuitive and useful for producing biologically relevant results.
Exploring structural changes of employment in rural Czechia: territorial approach
Čapkovičová, Andrea ; Jančák, Vít (advisor) ; Květoň, Viktor (referee) ; Konečný, Ondřej (referee)
The thesis searches for driving forces behind structural changes of rural employment in the example of Czechia subject to changing rural paradigm and the related question of rural economic viability represented by the employment performance. The research elaborates on the territorial approaches which categorises regions according to their degree of rurality. In addition, the detailed classification is made according to the change of non-agricultural employment in the period 2001-2011 in order to identify dynamic regions which showed performance above national average (leading) and those which lacked behind (lagging). The observations prompt the question why is the performance differentiated. Therefore, the regionally differentiated impact of processes such as deagriculturisation, deindustrialisation and tertiarisation in the period 2001-2011 is analysed by the use of analysis of components (namely shift-share analysis) and multivariate analysis (namely factor and cluster analysis). The thesis aims to provide answers in particular by giving a thorough analysis of how the changing rural paradigm (and regional theories in wider context) conceptualise the driving forces behind employment development in rural areas. The added value is in the analysis of interrelations and correlations of chosen...
Comparative structural analysis of Borreliella spp. virulent factors focusing on their surface topology conservation
Zdrha, Alois ; Drbal, Karel (advisor) ; Nunvář, Jaroslav (referee)
Gram-negative bacteria of genus Borreliella cause the nowadays spreading illness Lyme borreliosis. However, their classification as gram-negative bacteria is rather mislea- ding because they differ in their complex genome, pathogenic adaptation to their hosts and composition of their outer membrane. One species of borreliella can harbour up to 23 variable plasmids and one conserved chromosome and they still lack many crucial proteins needed for synthesis of key compounds. Hence, they have to obtain these compounds from the host. However, in order for borreliella to utilise the metabolic processes of the host, it has to first survive its immune response. Therefore borreliella contains many virulent factors including highly variable surface lipoproteins. The variability is a major obstacle to overcome when using their surface epitopes for detection and vaccine development because most of the dominant antigenic epitopes of borreliella are usually parts of the most variable regions of the lipoproteins. Nowadays, we can use many different algorithms which determine evolutionary conserved epitopes based on analysis of sequences of given lipoprotein, in order to find suitable targets for antibodies. In general, conserved epitopes are more suitable for vaccines, whereas more variable epitopes are better...

EVALUATION AND CLASSIFICATION OF THE EUROPEAN UNION COUNTRIES
Brabcová, Petra ; Löster, Tomáš (advisor) ; Vltavská, Kristýna (referee)
This diploma work describes the classification of the member states of the European Union according to the demographic indicators. It evaluates development in the individual states by absolute demographic indicators too. In the year 2008 less children were born and less people were died in the most of the member states than the year 1993. The hope of the end of life grows up in all contries. Relative demographic indicators are used in the cluster analysis for diversification of rhe states into certain groups in accordance with their similarity. Two methods are used in this work --of the farthest neighbour and the Ward method (the hierarchical clustering method), the both with the Euclid distance. The hierarchical method of the farthest neighbour divided fifteen states into the four clusters in 1995, twenty-five states into the six clusters in 2004 and twenty-seven states into the six clusters in 2007. The Ward method divided these states into the three clusters in 1995, into the six clusters in 2004 and into the three clusters in 2007.
Riders
Sviták, David ; Hebák, Petr (advisor) ; Kocúrová, Barbora (referee)
Riders are growing more important as a part of insurance markets. The aim of this thesis is to introduce riders offered by a chosen insurance company in the Czech Republic. The next part is dedicated to the study of a structure of arranged riders in one year. A characteristic of riders and main covers a, which affect the number of arranged riders, are specified by using statistical methods. In the last part, clients are classified based on their owned riders by using cluster analysis. This thesis contains some recommenddations to create new riders.
Lifestyle - A Research Topic And a Criteria for Market Segmentation
Kuncová, Jana ; Koudelka, Jan (advisor) ; Udatný, Jiří (referee)
The thesis considers lifestyle with emphasis on its applicability in marketing practices. The first part characterises the social research projects that took place recently in the Czech Republic. The second part concentrates on the principles and methods of market segmentation, followed by an example of financial market segmentation based on features of lifestyle. The final part contains recommendations related to marketing strategies towards chosen segments.
